LOCATION

Napo Cultural Center is located within the Yasuni National Park, in the depths of the Amazon rainforest through which the River Napo runs.

What is Yasuni

Yasuní National Park is an official UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest.

The territory of Yasuni, which means “sacred land”, symbolizes the abundance of life on Earth. In the most biodiverse ecosystem on the planet, with one millon hectares of land, Mother Nature has given birth to a plethora of magnificent creatures. Yasuni is one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world that might never be fully discovered, for within only one hectare you can find more species of organisms here than on the entire North American continent or all of Europe.

This protected tract of land is home to a third of all Amazonian mammals, including a staggering 60% of all New World wild cats, 106 reptiles, and 610 species of birds. More than 4000 species of plants thrive here. Through a deep understanding of the fact that we are an integral part of a greater whole, Yasuní represents the need to protect our natural splendour and cultivate the solidarity one can have with nature.

The Lodge

After a 30 minute flight through the Andes to Coca, the town from which Francisco Orellana began his search for the mythical city “El Dorado”, you will embark on a motor boat in Napo River which lasts for around 2 hours to reach Napo Cultural Center.
